Why RESI makes films

The Resilient and Sustainable Islands Initiative (RESI) creates films to inform and inspire hope in people and governments around the world.

Despite facing global inequity and extreme climate impacts, small island communities have chosen resilience and self determination. Through unwavering ambition and effective leadership, nations including Dominica, Barbados and Vanuatu are pioneering solutions for recovery, reform and justice.

As a flagship initiative of global advisory network ODI Global, RESI has worked with Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and their partners since 2021 to frame policy problems, influence international institutions, and open access to climate finance.

Climate Blueprint is how the research reaches past the people already reading it. A farmer rebuilding on higher ground. A fisherwoman observing the heating seas. A student who helped carry her country’s case to the world’s highest court. These are the stories which help turn evidence into policy for change.

Human stories, wider rooms

The films were built to work in more than one room.

They screen at COP and during UN General Assembly week. They screen at film festivals, universities, embassies, and neighbourhood theatres. They open ministerial convenings and they close public evenings. Delegates watch them. So do people who simply care about people and planet.

If you would like to host a screening in your organisation or community group, contact RESI to find out more.
